The clock on my computer reads 12:01 on 4/6/15. That means is not Easter Sunday anymore. So here I sit at the end of what will likely be the highest attended Sunday of the year, and I ask myself the same question that a wise mentor once asked in a staff meeting: what if we realized that our Easter services were so "good" because of all the prayer and preparation we put into them, and what if we did that every Sunday?
Thought provoking for a pastor on a day when we did things "different" than usual at Smyrna. But it also begs the question, WHAT NOW? Does this day where everybody posts their pictures in their Spring attire and some attend church for the first time in a year (or at least since Christmas) simply now fade away? Do we let the messages we heard about a loving Savior who died and rose again for us simply drift in one ear and out the other? Are we simply checking the "went to church on Easter" box of our "Do Good List," hoping that God saw us there today and we get some kind of bonus points? I hope and pray that as individuals, families, churches, and the Body of Christ we don't let today be a flash in a pan. I pray it would spark a revival in our own hearts to do more, be more, and serve more. So I guess my title is one that will only be answered by individuals in the highways of the marketplace tomorrow, the hallways of churches next Sunday, and the hearts of people all over the world in days ahead: is Easter over for YOU?
