Who We Are
Smyrna Baptist Church was established in 1901, and since that time, we have been
Worshiping Jesus, Walking with Jesus, and Working for Jesus
The church gathers to Worship Jesus each week on the Lord's Day. Known for many years for its rich musical history, you will find a traditional worship style during your worship at Smyrna. Also one of our Pastors will bring a prayerful, studied, and uplifting message from God's Word. During the school year, we offer age-appropriate worship ministry to our 3 - 10 year olds in Kids' Praise. The kids meet with their leader each Sunday at the completion of the choir singing. Some weeks are designated as "Family Worship," usually in conjunction with special holidays or events. We gather on Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings.
Being a member at Smyrna means that we are daily Walking with Jesus. This means that we are committed to our relationship with Jesus Christ individually and collectively. Through our personal and corporate prayer and Bible study, we want to be known as people who love the Lord and cultivate our relationship with Him. This is done through personal, private study, but also in small group and age group Bible studies. We offer Sunday school for all ages, as well as Wednesday night Bible studies for all ages.
We believe that our salvation is a gift of the grace of God through Jesus Christ, so we are not working for our Salvation, but because we are saved, we want to be faithful to be Working for Jesus. Through the many ministry opportunities within our normal sized church, there is a place for those who want to share the love of Christ with others. If by offering a meal and a box of groceries, being approved to serve with youth and children, participating in our Pray & Go community outreach, or individual work in the community, we are a church that wants to be known for our love to share the gospel.

What We Believe
Since our founding in 1901, Smyrna has been a church that preaches, teaches, and believes that the BIBLE is the infallible, inerrant, and final Word of God in all matters of faith and practice. It is the main text for all events, classes, lessons, and sermons at Smyrna.
Smyrna is a proud member of the Conasauga Baptist Association, which is also affiliated with the Georgia and Southern Baptist Conventions. This means that we believe in giving and going on the mission field through the Cooperative Program of the SBC. We believe that Jesus left us the Great Commission to carry the gospel and make disciples of all people, locally and globally. We also recognize this is only done through His power. We are blessed to be a part of His work in the world.
For more information about our belief and practice, you may check out the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as adopted by the SBC and the 1853 Baptist Church Covenant (both linked below). These documents are a good summary of our doctrines and membership expectations here at Smyrna.
