These past two weeks have taught me something about myself: I love my family. This fact is evidenced by the fact that over the past two weeks with this crazy winter weather, we are all alive and no worse for the wear! We have spent a lot of time in close quarters. Sometimes we have individuals in our rooms in seclusion, but by and large we enjoy spending time together. I know many of you do also.
It is from this context of spending time together as a family that led me to consider something: how often do we come to church and "split up" our families? Hear me carefully: I am in FULL FAVOR of age appropriate ministry (my background was Children's ministry after all). But what are we doing as the church to promote worship as a family. So with that in mind, we will begin to have Family Worship at Smyrna on Sunday nights. EVERYBODY will be in the sanctuary together as a family, learning to worship. We will still have Children's church on Sunday mornings and our full youth & children's activities on Wednesday nights. I'm excited about bringing our families together to worship on Sunday nights. By the way, I love my family dearly. I try to never take for granted the gift of their love and lives. Its the greatest joy of my life to be her husband and their Daddy!
